Here is a mind map of my initial ideas for this project. I wanted to focus on something that is important to me so that I will create work that is personal and has meaning. I have decided to look at liberation and repression, mainly around youth culture however I will explore further. I feel that the youth of today are more aware of the corruption, lies and wars we are starting. We are aware of the massive difference in wealth between the richest 1% and the poorest 99%. There are a lot of protests happening in the UK at the moment and I think that at these events I will meet liberated people that I can focus my project on.

I would like to create images along the line of the photos above. I would like to include portraits of people who I feel are liberated and free, landscapes of places with significance to the idea behind the project, relevant graffiti and other images of things that I feel are linked to liberation and freedom. I would also like to show how people can be repressed but I’m still considering ways the I can incorporate it into the project. I will research artists and photographers who have created work with a similar subject matter or have used techniques that have inspired me, along with books about the media and government to give me a better understanding on the situation so I my images will have meaning.
